Hunter discovers a deer trapped by its horns on a tree. Gets chainsaw and rescues the deer. I'll bet the noise really scared the deer.

    The story was on https://www.coasttocoastam.com/artic...apped-in-tree/

An unsuccessful night of bow hunting turned into an impromptu animal rescue mission for an Ohio man who stumbled upon a rather remarkable scene on his way home.

While walking through the woods near his parent's home, the hunter spotted a deer that had somehow gotten its antlers stuck in a tree.

The man says that he first tried to free the frightened animal by hand, but the attempt was made futile due to the deer frantically kicking and flailing.

And so the hunter retrieved a chainsaw from the house and returned with some more firepower for the rescue, which a companion managed to capture on film.

One can only imagine, while watching the video, how terrified the deer must have been as the man sawed away at the tree around its head in order to dislodge the creature.

After a minute or so, the hunter clears away enough of the tree that the deer is able to get free and swiftly takes off into the darkness, no doubt carrying with it a story it won't soon forget.

I remember stories from BITD, when urban bowhunting was becoming an established way to lower herd numbers in parks and neighborhoods; the Bambi-ists convinced some community leaders that capturing the deer and transplanting them was a more 'humane' solution. Don't remember the number, but a high percentage of the transplanted deer died from the stress induced from being tranquilized and man-handled, or being netted and handled. Hope that isn't the case for this unlucky buck. Ace2

"Back East", in quite a few places inside towns/cities, the saner heads have prevailed and bowhunters are doing the job.

It has been conclusively;y shown (by those who tried) that capture and contraception are unworkable at herd population control (but the people trying spent a huge amount of time/money proving that, and it wasn't what they intended to prove).

The bowhunters do still have to deal with issues of occasional stupid people who actually see a dead deer, or have a shot one run over onto their property before dying,. then the hunter comes to fetch it, but the deer, if left alone, attack pets, eat expensive ornamental plant life, destroy cars, and injure/kill people (mostly while simultaneously destroying a car), so the majority support the hunters, thus pressuring the politicians to support them.

Very professional private businesses of specially trained and licensed hunters, not just any old rube with a bow and arrow.

Incidentally,,,,,,, you calm the deer by covering it's head with something, small blanket, large towel, so that it cannot see what is going on. Then you saw while it can't watch.

Most wild animals and "tame" calm down when they can't see. People tend to go the other way. Animals and little human babies only react to what they see. Adults know the danger is still there.

I wonder when Planned Parenthood will suggest that pregnant deer be aborted? They might demand that hunting license money be used.
