    Just struck me, as I glanced at the thread title again---it's absolutely correct, springs don't 'wear' from sitting static; they may, however, weaken or take a set from being compressed to whatever degree, then sitting static. Modern springs generally won't take enough set to make them non-functional (note my example of the two shotgun mag springs and the P89 mags above), but they can end up weaker than they started, yet still be strong enough to do their job. Or not. Ace2
    Sometimes the term 'Idiot' is a description and not an insult.
