started a topic Colt King Cobra

    Colt King Cobra

It seems that Colt is getting both feet wet in the DA revolver business once more..First was the Cobra, and now the King Cobra 357.

This is something that I'm going to consider getting for carry. Of course, I'll have to be a good boy and promise to eat my spinach.

I've owned a couple Pythons, still own 1 and my 1st center-fire handgun was a Trooper MKIII back when I was 15.

IF you wanted to create a hybrid a better option would probably be a "Smolt' or S&W hybrid. The MKIII is a good solid revolver, but the action would not equal a tuned S&W IMHO. Then ther's also the fact that the MKIIIs value as is, would be greater than the Smiths. Once S&W came out with the L frame with the FL under-lug I think the desire to create Smolts kind of went away.

I knew a guy once to put a Colt (Python, I think) barrel on a Ruger Security Six frame. Looked cool, with the vent rib on top, and it worked well. Good way to cure that Colt malady of having the cylinder turn the wrong direction. Ace2

Yeah, LOL, that's cheating. It just wouldn't be the same. Anyway, I watched a Jerry Miculek video, and he kinda killed my desire for a Python. Seems I'd be living in the past, like the 1911 boys *snicker*. S&W has continued to make advances in revolver technology, so I suppose I should get what Jerry uses to make all those speed records with. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cbV...vtJkn2ENTC5WWC

Are you required to have a NRA membership and carry a 1911 in order to use a fax machine this day and age? So people still fax things?

On the Okie forum I said I'd prefer ramp sights, but a poster there said that the Patridge sight would be better for tritium inserts. I think he has a point.

That is a pretty gun. I wonder how a .44Spl model would compete with the Ruger?
Not a thing wrong with six .357 rounds, especially now that there are milder, but still very effective, loads available. And I'd venture a guess that those grips would help a lot with controllability, and still be easy to hide. Almost makes me wish I had a 'need' for another wheel gun---almost. Ace2

I hope Colt offers it with a 4" barrel. I'm tempted now, but I'd really be tempted were that to happen.
