State “Guns In Bars” Law Overturned By Judge

A Nashville judge has ruled a law that allows handguns in Tennessee bars and restaurants is unconstitutional. Chancellor Claudia Bonnyman ruled Friday that the law, enacted earlier this year over the veto of Gov. Phil Bredesen, is “fraught with ambiguity.”

She ruled in a suit brought by a group of Tennesseans, many of them restaurant owners.

The law allowed handgun permit holders to take their weapons into places serving alcohol, providing the establishment makes more than 50 percent of its profits from food.

There was no immediate word from attorneys for the state about an appeal.

The measure took effect July 14. Thirty-seven states had similar legislation at the time.

I had a water pistol like that 50 years ago.It seemed to copy a the look of a 1951 era 32 auto.

The judge is right, the law is ambiguous. How do you as a CCH know the gross margins of a business.

That was an issue in Kansas. It seems pretty obvious, they sell food and beer, but how many dollars for each and is that posted on the door?

Poorly written laws should be struck down.

The people think the Constitution protects their rights; But government sees it as an obstacle to be overcome.
If your religion says suicide and murder are wrong; Aren't you doing both if you are not prepared to defend your life and the lives of others?

At first glance I thought it was a HK P7M8, but what kills me is what looks like an AK magazine release below the trigger guard. Looks more like something a liberal arts major would design than an actual gun.

It is European and probably stylized [the muzzle] but IIRC there were such finger rests on some early auto-pistols.

        This is an HK P7

I haven't had any luck finding the id on that.

LoL Jim, I was referring to the silhouette on the gunbuster, not the picture you posted, sorry for the confusion.

I use to own a P7M8, I know what they look like....

Other than the werid thing below the back of the trigger guard, I would say a PF9 or P11 by KelTec.

Reason, the cut of the bottom of the pistol grip.

I'm gonna go with "really bad cartoon gun", and put it in with some of the "revolvers" that I've seen on gunbuster type signs elsewhere.

Thanks, I can see it now.

That's a silhouette of a rare H&K P7 prototype, with a rudimentary squeeze cocker and tanto blade muzzle attachment.

Was that the one with a built-in ashtray?
