My Experience today 6-14-10
My wife and I went to Bullseye today and with some of the comments being left I was rather nervous. I was greatly surprised that to have been greeted at the door with a good morning, was asked how we could be helped, hell they even remembered us, not by name but did remember us, and we go every couple of months. As they were helping get us the targets and ammo, my wife went to the ladies room and of course no paperwork!, she came out reported this and one of the staff went off to get some. The only thing I can say is that service was as good to us as before, just different people.

I am just the opposite! I love it when salesmen just let me look around without HARRASSING me or giving me the 3rd degree like I am going to steal something. Sounds like a place I might like to shop, just wish it were closer. Then again, I am not shy, once I have a question or ready to pay my money and get down the road, I am fully capable of making that known!

I have been around the mid-west and south-west a fair bit over the last three years. In that time I have never found another place quite like Bullseye. I have found many gunshops with more and fancier stuff but no service to be found, others are old and dusty where the proprietor has not bought new stock his shelves since the 80s and gives you the stink-eye for asking about a special order. Additionally I have been to many shooting ranges, most of them indoor, that only support pistol use. Some of these places are clean, well run and a real pleasure to patronize while others are coated in unburnt powder and lead dust and trash; there are two that come immediately to mind where I would not re-enter without a Tyvek suit and SCBA. More rare is the range that not only supports rifles but has a dedicated rifle range over 50 yards. When I worked there full time back in '06-'07 I was told that we had the only indoor/underground 100yd rifle range within six-hundred miles of Wichita. Whether that was entirely true then or is still true today I do not know but it can't be too far off of the mark. With respect to the setup they have you folks that are able to use it are quite lucky. The neatest thing I've found about Bullseye can be summed up in two ways: attitude and continuity. Personally one of my favorite things while I'm working behind the counter is to see people eyeballing the long guns on the north wall. Very few people realize that the display cases are not actually there to block them. It's very nice to not just be able to tell folks that can walk behind the displays and handle the rifles and shotguns but encourage them to do so. So long as no one does a bayonet drill there won't be any issues! That attitude is something I've never found anywhere else. The other neat thing I've noticed about Bullseye is that the employee base remains largely the same. The people working there do so because it is their passion. While new employees do get added from time to time the core workers remain largely the same and that brings continuity. If you are a good customer, somebody new or in need of help you will likely be remembered. If you are a safety violator, clown or just generally act like a damn turkey you will likely be remembered for that as well. I think enough of the place that on my free weekends I will drive up from OKC and work on Saturdays, maybe even a few hours Sunday. I don't make much, after paying for gas both ways I'm usually about $20 in the hole. I do it because of the camaraderie with the other employees and my passion for the gun culture. I can see the changes that have been made slowly over the last 3 years and those made more rapidly and with great gusto since the change of ownership. In short, I am excited. I want to see what Bullseye looks like 10 years from now. Ek

I've gone in twice in the last week and I'd have to say their attention to customer service has increased by a significant amount.

I hate it when every single floor salesmen at Best Buy asks me multiple times if I need help, when I continue to say "no thank you", they just keep doing it.
The last time I went in there they were nice to me, even I hadn't slept well in 2 days and felt/looked like crap. (I was staying with my grandma at the hospital after a big surgery) But hell, even if they were rude to me, they'd be hard pressed to be as rude as that kid at BulletStop was to me. I remember someone from there later saying they had no idea what was going on, but everyone behind the counter were listening and jsut let that mean kid act like that in the store. Oh well. He probably doesn't work there anymore. Some places operate different ways, I suppose.

Bullseye...
I started going to Bullseye about a year ago because I wanted to use their indoor range. I've purchased accessory's, and even used their FFL service once. The day I asked for their FFL info because I wanted to have a rifle shipped from another state, the guy went back to the office came back and just kinda threw it at me and walked off. I should have just left it there and walked out. Anyway once I had word my rifle was on the way I called bullseye to ask if I needed to let them know it was coming, or should I give them my contact info or anything. He just asked if my name and number would be in the box. I said I believe so, to which he said we'll call you and,,, HUNG UP on me. I stopped going there a few months back because I was treated like I was stupid anytime I asked a question. The last time I was there I was actually wanting to purchase a rile. They had two I wanted to ask about, but I realized I just did'nt want to be talked to they I'd been talked to there. I left and went to another gun store. They did'nt have what I wanted, but the guy was so helpful and friendly that I had them order what I wanted, and I purchased two rifles from them. To be fair, from reading this forum it sounds like bullseye may have improved. Maybe they read the forum. I don't care if they ask me if they can help when I walk in. Like some people I like to browse and collect my thoughts. But when I ask a question or want help, I'd like to be taken seriously, and treated with courtesy. Especially if I'm spending my money there.

I went there for the first time about 3 weeks ago or so.
1. Yes, they left me alone. I hate being hassled so it worked out great. 2. I knew what I went in there for, and what I wanted to buy, so when I was done browsing I went up to the counter and asked. Not only did 1 guy grab the items for me.. the other answered my questions about Glocks and dug in the safe to find one. 3. I got what I wanted, plus the info I wanted without being hassled and every single question I asked was answered. (and then some. LOL) I'll go back for more supplies when I need them. |
