Went up to the range with a friend Saturday to work at / on the range a bit. Besides being un believably hot nothing went well. Upon arrival my tractor had a flat, got that fixed so I could mow and within an hour the skid loader had a tire destroyed and ripped off of the rim. A trip back to town and changing out four tires and wheels on the skid loader got us up and running. Another hour or so of mowing and digging found yet another flat on the skid loader. We finally called it a day, not getting done what we had hoped

Before stopping we got the forth bay dug out and useable. The burm between 3 & 4 and the back stop on 4 need some more work but we are getting close. We also rebuilt the entrance onto the ranges via the north side. Not of any interest to you guys but it is now completely passable with a loaded dump truck. Kind of behind the scenes stuff.

Last but not least is some of our new safety signs are done and should be posted by the weekend. While the house is still being remodeled and the fences are all down we do not have as good of access control of the range as we would like. That said we are going to have to declare areas of the facilities as “No Loaded Gun” areas and “no handling of gun” areas and hope everyone will work with us.

See you all Sunday, Remember beginning class at 12:00, Shooting at 1:00

We just keep plugging away man, sooner or later it will start to look like a shooting range up there.

Well after last Sundays shoot and a couple of generous donations by members we have enough money to start hauling in gravel. We have a truck and skid loader lined up but the nearest quarry is only open M-F so now we have to take time off work to get all of this done. Looks like Friday, August 13th is the day that works out best for all of us. That will get it on the ground before next months shoot.

Not sure how much we will get hauled and spread with our time frame and budget but I bet it puts a big dent in it.

WOW, Friday the 13th, maybe that should be a warning.

Spent all morning up at the range mowing and spraying 15 gallons of Round Up and 10 gallons of some very expensive broadleaf killer that I forgot the name of. Should help with the poison ivy and Logans constant crying about it..........

Range Update.......

Well the high dollar weed killer we sprayed a week ago did not work as fast and efficiant as I had hoped but the poison ivy is all slowly wilting and turning brown.

Today was a fun day at the range, at least as fun as a 104 degree day can be for a fat guy......... Anyway we hauled 6 dump truck loads of rock in from the Blue River Quarry west of Blue Rapids. We spread it about 3"-4" thick and then packed it all down fairly well with the loader. Should make a great start and will have to get us into next spring as I went way over budget.......

We started at the back of the bays and worked forward. We left about a 2 foot area around the edges so we can come back in and line the edges with railroad ties later to divide the bay floors from the berms. We completly graveled Bay 1 & Bay 2 as well as the back half of both Bay 3 & Bay 4. Bays 3 & 4 will still give us gravel where we are moving and shooting but the down range targets may be set up in the dirt.

All I have is a couple of pics taken on Waynes phone. Will get better ones later.
